Balancing Shadows of Doubt and Lists

Featured image for a new update of the rules. It reads "rules update" in the font of the Emerald Legacy.

We observed how the new cards of Shadows of Doubt turned out in your matches, and there are some things we’re not quite happy with. One of our Designers, Rob, has written down a few words regarding our (presumably) final changes to Shadows of Doubt.

A roundup round. Robs been slow… Ah well, that is as it is, there are loads of things. Anyways, to business!

Changes to Shadows of Doubt

  • Incessant Moto gains Berserker.
  • Bayushi Rumormonger gains Storyteller, and his action changes:
Conflict Action: Discard X cards from the opponents conflict deck, where X is the largest number of characters controlled by a player in this conflict.
  • Pressure becomes (Max 1 per conflict)
  • Cornering Maneuver:
Mil Conflict Action: Choose a character on your side – that character gets +2 for the conflict. Then, you may choose a character you control and move it to the conflict or home from the conflict.
  • Deeds, not Words changes:
Conflict Action: Choose a participating character you control – that character gets +2 until the end of the conflict. You may discard the Imperial Favor to honor that character. If you win the conflict, claim the Imperial Favor.

Changes to the Ban List and Restricted List

The changes to the ban list and restricted list are long overdue.

I have decided it is time for the following two cards to leave: Feeding an Army and Spectral Visitation. They have had their time, and it is time that time is over. They move to the Ban List.

On the restriction side, I find that it is time to release Sinister Peacekeeper from confinement, giving some more choices open for the Scorpion who would like to sully their opponents name.

Let us see where this leads us, and what should happen next time.

We’ll implement the changes as quickly as possible in EmeraldDB, we hope to have them live by tomorrow evening!
