Back in October 2024, I announced a roleplaying supplement for Sanctuary, adhering to the “noir fantasy samurai” genre. Players work for the “Emerald Magistracy”, an organization controlled by the paranoid Ikoma Yumiko, while also pursuing their own secret agendas. I also released a text-only version of this supplement, as a “preview” of the final product.
Now, the final product is here: Adventures in Sanctuary. This lorebook, formatted by Rob Smith, contains amazing art that is already being used by Emerald Legacy, as well as new content—including a section called “Clan Lore”.

Here’s what is in the supplement:
- a letter from Ikoma Yumiko, your superior, setting the tone for the rest of the supplement
- some notes about the rival magistracies of Sanctuary, and NPCs who belong to these magistracies
- “Clan Lore”, which contains important information about Sanctuary, the Major Clans and the Mantis Clan

- two RPG modules set within Sanctuary itself:
- Recovery of the Katanas: The Ceremonial Robes have been stealing katanas from the Phoenix clan. Enter into the Empty City to recover these stolen katanas…and Ichiro, Yumiko’s loyal doshin.
- Sunken Costs: The Lion and Scorpion clans are exchanging hostages in Yakatabune Port, while a mysterious deity haunts the city. Pretend to oversee this hostage exchange – but find out what’s really going on. (This adventure is based on Episode 40 of the The Last Province podcast, an April Fools’ podcast episode about a fictional RPG adventure, responsible for creating the “Otter clan” meme)
- pre-generated “secret sheets” that can be used in any ruleset
- a letter from Isawa Hifumi, the Phoenix clan’s Expedition Leader
- “Art Credits”, letting you know who made what art

You can download the final product in two formats: a view spread PDF for easy online viewing, and a single page PDF for printing. Choose whatever you like.
Thanks to all who helped develop “Emerald Legacy”: the writers, the artists, the card players, etc. Your contributions molded the Sanctuary setting and paved the way for this lore book.
Yumiko is counting on you. Don’t disappoint her.
What do you think? Let us know if you like it and tell us about your experience with it!
Fun Fact: There are 7 otters in “Adventures in Sanctuary”. Can you find them all?
