Emerald Legacy is a project by the community, for the community. We can only exist if we have enough support and people working for the project. We do have a few open positions, so if you want to be a part of the Legacy, read on!
We have big plans for the upcoming sets and years, and we need people to fill several positions to be able to stem those plans. Here’s a list and description of open positions:
Ethics, Diversity and Inclusion
Emerald Legacy is a celebration of asian cultures that is, by and large, created by non-asian people. For this reason, this team is incredibly important to ensure that we create in a way that is respectful and inclusive. Currently, we are in dire need of Cultural Advisors in the following areas:
- Cultures of Eastern and Southeastern Asia
- Asian Representation
- LGBTQ+
- Disability and Ableism
You don’t need to be an expert to apply! If you have cultural insight that would benefit the project, we want you! You will check our artworks if it’s non offending and proper, and you will help our story teams to write their stories as accurate and inclusive as possible. Please visit our page to join the project or get in touch with our Otter Daimiyo (Dr. Adjective#3535) on Discord.
Graphics and Design
We’re currently lacking a person that takes over our Graphics and Design department. Your job would be to work with our artists to let their images shine on our cards, design new card frames from time to time, and also create a few designs for our website. Additionally, you can / could help with the physical production of the cards, layouting etc.
Skills in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator and/or Affinity Publisher/Photo are required. If you’re familiar with Git and GitHub, that’s also a plus to help with our future process for documents like stories and rulebooks.
Is that something for you? Then apply for this position or ask me (Hida Amoro#6853) on Discord.
Art Volunteers
When you look at our cards that we released so far, you see a bunch of different art styles and variety. That is something we want, something we love. However, those artists all provided their art for free and in their spare time. With all that’s planned at the moment, we need more artists.
We cannot pay you. We must not. FFG wrote in their legal letter that fan projects must never earn money with their projects and pay artists with that money. So you would work for free. But we incorporate you in a group of artists, provide you a platform to show your skills, and give you the opportunity to get your art into the hands of as many players as possible. The artworks are still belong to you, they are yours, forever. You only give us permission to use the artworks for the project (cards, packs, website, and so on).
Sounds like a cool spot for you? Then waste no more time and apply or ask me (Hida Amoro#6853) on Discord, if you have any questions.
Play Testing
Well, we’re creating a card game. We do have a design team and a balance team, who come up with awesome card ideas. But sometimes, those ideas prove to be too powerful or not powerful enough. That’s where play testing comes in. You will get early access to the new cards and be able to test them against others in a closed environment. We do of course have play testers, but the more, the merrier. With such a big card pool as the current one (and it will only grow!), there are so many possibilities how a card might all of a sudden be part of an overpowered combo. And to cover as many possibilities as possible, we need more people. You help to shape the cards, you help to shape the game.
Come and join us or ask me (Hida Amoro#6853) or our play tester lead Cory (KCOOREY#2197) on Discord.
Community Management
There are so many tasks within the Legacy, and one of those is talking to you, collecting feedback from you, and creating content for you. As we’re an international, world-wide project, fans live in different timezones, which makes it impossible for one community manager to cater to everyone.
We’re looking for one or two community managers for Europe as well as for the Asian region/time zones. We’re also looking for a second community manager for the American timezones (Canada, North America, South America). You’ll discuss with the community on Discord, Reddit, Facebook, or BoardGameGeek, you’ll write an article every now and then and you’ll be part of our team to plan strategies for content releases.
Sounds like fun? Then contact me (Hida Amoro#6853) or our community manager Solo (Solo#6473) on Discord, or send us an email ([email protected]).
Whew! Those are a lot of different jobs. If any or more of them are interesting to you, please do not hesitate to apply or ask!
If all of the above is not for you and you’re looking for another way to support the Emerald Legacy and keep the game alive, keep your eyes peeled! We will share news about that in the not too distant future!
